St. Norbert Routs Cornell

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - St. Norbert College had little trouble scoring goals and rolled to a 9-0 win over Cornell College in a Midwest Conference match at Cornell Soccer Field.

The Green Knights (9-2-2, 2-1-2 MWC) scored five goals in the first half and outshot the Rams (2-11-1, 0-5) by a 33-2 margin.

Sam Lamers put the Green Knights on the board just 2 minutes 31 seconds into the match. Tyler Kassube followed with a marker at 12:21. Kieran Ruane notched his first collegiate goal at 20:25, while Joe Fabich scored goals at 37:43 and 41:48. Kassube assisted on the Green Knights' first, third and fourth goals.

Jim Blisk gave St. Norbert a 6-0 lead with a penalty kick at 55:31. Hunter Sullivan also scored his first collegiate goal with a marker at 60:08. Austin Mahlik scored at 80:19, while Fabich closed out the scoring with a hat trick at 81:27. Sergio Villalpando assisted on St. Norbert's fifth and seventh goals. Kevin Marx assisted on the eighth goal, while Sullivan earned an assist on the final goal.

Scott Faul made one save in working the first half for the Green Knights. Sam Lisheron did not make a save in between the posts in the second half. Shaun Boerner made nine saves for the Rams.
