St. Norbert Pulls Away In Wild Third Period

DE PERE - St. Norbert College got back to the .500 mark on the season after pulling away during a hectic third period in a 5-2 win over St. Mary's University at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights (4-4-1) also claimed the Card-Knight Cup, which goes to the winner of the annual meeting between the two teams. St. Mary's dropped to 2-4-1 overall.

St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Katie Conlon at the 15:17 mark of the first period. The Green Knights made that lead hold up through the end of two periods.

The Green Knights scored another power-play goal at 4:30 of the third period when Megan Crandell netted her first marker of the season. St. Mary's countered 14 seconds later on a goal by Jamie Henderson to trim the lead to 2-1.

Kylie Gazzolo put the Green Knights ahead 3-1 at 6:24, and Selena Stromer followed with her first collegiate goal at 11:21. St. Mary's got to within 4-2 on a Jesse Cwik goal at 16:46, but Ali Parker's power-play goal at 19:19 closed out the scoring.

Parker finished with two assists for a three-point game. Natasha Smith had three assists, while Crandell had an assist for a two-point game.

St. Norbert outshot St. Mary's 41-21. Leigh Grall made 19 saves for the Green Knights, while Marah Shields made 36 stops for the Cardinals. St. Norbert was 3-for-5 on the power play, while St. Mary's was 0-for-2.
