St. Norbert Turns Tables On Pointers

DE PERE - St. Norbert College bounced back to earn a series split with UW-Stevens Point, taking a 5-2 decision in the back end of a home-and-home non-conference series at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights (7-5-1) dropped the opener to the No. 7-ranked Pointers (9-4-1) by the same 5-2 score Friday in Stevens Point.

St. Norbert jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Ali Parker scored an unassisted marker at 4:04, then Jessica Sherman tallied her first collegiate goal with a power-play score at 16:03.

The Pointers' Ali Biagini halved the deficit with a goal at 3:42 of the second period, but the Green Knights were able to hold their lead through the end of 40 minutes.

St. Norbert grabbed a 3-1 lead at 2:29 of the third period when Reaghan Chadwick scored. The Pointers countered with a goal by Lexi Englund at 4:28. St. Nrobert pulled away with an unassisted goal by Emily Chandler at 8:01, and Lauren Roethlisberger salted the victory away with a shorthanded, empty-net goal at 18:03.

Roethlisberger added an assist for a two-point game, while Kylie Gazzolo had three assists.

St. Norbert outshot the Pointers 40-24. Brianna Kelly made 22 saves for the Green Knights, while Janna Beilke-Skoug made 35 stops for the Pointers. St. Norbert was 1-for-6 on the power play, while Stevens Point was 0-for-6.
