DE PERE - St. Norbert College posted its 12th 20-win season in women's basketball history with a 64-45 win over Cornell College in a Midwest Conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights (20-3, 17-1 MWC) have now won 20 games for the sixth time in the last eight years.

St. Norbert led 22-20 at halftime and then shot 50 percent in the second half to pull away, making 16 of 32 field-goal attempts. The Green Knights and Rams were tied at 24-24 early in the second half before going on an 18-7 run to take a 42-31 lead with 12:23 left.

Brianna Byrne got the run started with a 3-pointer. She later had a basket and conventional three-point play on consecutive possessions midway through the run. Byrne and Stephanie Weigman then closed out the spurt with back-to-back triples for an 11-point advantage.

Cornell (14-9, 12-6) cut the deficit to nine points on two occasions but went on a 9-2 run late for a 59-41 edge with 2:38 left to salt the game away.

St. Norbert made just 6 of 30 (20 percent) of its field-goal attempts in the first half, which included a stretch of nearly 7 minutes without scoring. The Green Knights trailed 15-9 with 5:12 left in the half before Kyra Vanden Heuvel's 3-pointer started a 13-5 run to close the half. Tasha Giese's jumper with 22 seconds left in the half put the Green Knights up 22-20 at intermission.

Giese led St. Norbert with 15 points, while Byrne added 12 points. The Green Knights had a remarkably low turnover total of five.

Cornell shot 25.8 percent (16-for-62) from the floor. Taylor Dicus finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Rams.
