Green Knights In Contention After First Day at MWC Indoor

GRINNELL, Iowa - St. Norbert College is five points out of first place after the first day of the Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship at Grinnell College.

The Green Knights totaled 56 points, five points behind Monmouth College's 61 points. Carroll University is in third place with 32 points. St. Norbert is searching for its first-ever MWC Indoor Track championship, while Monmouth is the 15-time defending indoor champion.

St. Norbert swept the top three places in the long jump. Randy Hill won the conference title with a leap of 21 feet 8 1/4 inches, while Dan Sisler was second at 21-6 1/4. Andrew Jacobson was third at 21-4 1/4.

The 1,600-meter sprint medley relay won the conference title. Ryan Grandlic, Tyler Lewis, Akeem Edmonds and Austin Livingston turned in a time of 3:37.02.

The 4x200-meter relay finished second, with Taylor Pasterski, Jack Feuerstein, Grandlic and Lewis fashioning a time of 1:30.79.

Hayden Hoffmann finished fifth in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:34.96, while Andrew Lemay was eighth in 4:36.99.

Brennan Beachler was fifth in the pole vault with a height of 12-11. Evan Broyles placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 46-10, while Dominic DiBenedetto was seventh in 46-8 3/4.
