Green Knights Move On to NCHA Slaats Cup Four

DE PERE - St. Norbert College advanced to its third consecutive Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Slaats Cup Four with a 4-2 win over Marian University at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights (16-6-4) will face Lake Forest College at 7 p.m. EST Friday, March 6 at Arrington Ice Arena in Adrian, Mich. Top-seeded Adrian College faces Concordia University Wisconsin in the other semifinal.

St. Norbert took control early with three first-period goals. Myranda Hayes put the Green Knights ahead with a goal just 4:01 into the game. Natasha Smith scored at 12:57, and Megan Crandell followed with a power-play goal at 15:48.

Marian cut into the deficit with a power-play goal from Sarah Bier at 8:56 of the second period. The Green Knights countered with a Jillian Kosteck power-play goal at 16:05 to take a 4-1 lead into the third period.

The Sabres' Amanda Waigand scored at 9:06 of the third period, but Marian couldn't draw any closer.

Lauren Roethlisberger had three assists for St. Norbert, while Hayes and Crandell each had assists for two-point games.

St. Norbert outshot Marian 35-27. Leigh Grall made 25 saves for the Green Knights, while Amanda Alexander had 31 stops for Marian.

St. Norbert was 2-for-6 on the power-play, while Marian was 1-for-5.
