St. Norbert Splits With The College of New Jersey

LAKE WALES, Fla. - St. Norbert College split a doubleheader with The College of New Jersey on its second day of action on its annual Florida trip. The Green Knights won the opener 3-1 before dropping the nightcap 12-1.

The Green Knights (3-1) snapped a 1-1 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Tyler Banovich squeezed in Sean Grant, and Troy Rottier followed with a two-out RBI single to score Derek Klegin.

New Jersey (1-2) scored a run in the bottom of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead, but the Green Knights tied the game in the top of the third on an RBI infield single by Banovich.

Brett Nohr needed just 71 pitches to earn the complete-game win, throwing 54 strikes. Nohr scattered six hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

Klegin was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Rottier was 2-for-4.

New Jersey broke the nightcap open early with five runs in the top of the first inning to take control. St. Norbert scored its only run in the sixth inning on a Robbie Dombrowski RBI single to score Hunter Larson.

Grant was 2-for-3 with two doubles to lead the Green Knights offensively.
