Green Knights Swept by UW-Oshkosh in Miron Construction Field Opener

DE PERE - St. Norbert College opened the new Miron Construction Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex with a non-conference doubleheader against UW-Oshkosh, but the Green Knights were swept 2-1 and 7-2.

The Green Knights (5-11) fell behind in the opener when Katie Koepsel hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. St. Norbert tied the game with a Codi Jenshak RBI single in the fifth inning to drive in Gina Mastrodomenico. Oshkosh (12-6) got the game-winning run in the sixth inning on an RBI double by Emily Mallek.

Amy McBride was 2-for-2 in the opener for the Green Knights, who had six hits. Morgan Rusch took the loss, allowing eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Codi Jenshak stroked a two-run home run. The Titans answered with four runs in the second inning and three runs in the sixth to pull away.

Leigh Grall and Tayler Long both had two hits for the Green Knights, who had seven hits in the game. Francesca Marrese took the loss, allowing four hits and four runs in 1 2/3 innings.
