CHICAGO - St. Norbert College dropped its first-round NCAA Division III Tournament match to the University of St. Thomas by a 5-1 score at the University of Chicago's Stagg Tennis Courts.

The Green Knights, who finished the season 24-8, were making their second overall NCAA Tournament appearance. St. Thomas (19-2) advanced to face top-seeded Carnegie Mellon University Saturday in a second-round match.

St. Norbert picked up its lone point in doubles action, where Katherine Ake and Erika Chitko defeated Shelby Henderson and Jenna Czarnecki 8-5 at No. 2. Elizabeth Manlick and Nancy Chybowski dropped a tough 8-6 decision to Bridget Noack and Kara Lefsrud at No. 1. St. Thomas' Caitlin Bakke and Jenna Zimmerman beat Anna Gosz and Ashley Randazzo 8-1 at No. 3.

The Tommies then picked up singles wins at Nos. 3, 5 and 6 to close out the match. Manlick was leading her match at No. 1 singles against Henderson 6-3, 2-3 when it was halted due to St. Thomas winning its fifth match of the dual.
