4x400-Meter Relay Qualifies for Finals; First Day of Decathlon Completed

CANTON, N.Y. - St. Norbert College had a strong first day at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship at St. Lawrence University's Merrick-Picard Track and Field Complex.

The St. Norbert 4x400-meter relay of Tyler Lewis, Austin Livingston, Taylor Pasterski and Ryan Grandlic turned in a time of 3:15.80, which was ninth overall out of 16 teams competing. The top nine times advanced to Saturday's final, which will be run at 5 p.m. EDT.

Thursday was also the first day of the decathlon for Dan Sisler and Brad Boockmeier. Boockmeier currently sits in fifth place through five events with 3,588 points, while Sisler is 11th with 3,428 points.

Boockmeier's best event came in the first event, the 100-meter dash. Boockmeier turned in a time of 11.32 seconds for 791 points. Boockmeier also had two other events over the 700-point plateau, netting 752 points with a shot put distance of 47 feet 2 1/2 inches and a long jump of 21-8 3/4.

Sisler's best event came in the 400-meter run, picking up 745 points with a time of 51.53 seconds. He also had 709 points with a time of 11.71 seconds in the 100-meter dash, and narrowly missed another 700-point event with 696 points in the high jump - clearing a height of 6-2.

The decathlon will conclude with the final five events at Noon Friday.
