Early Goal Holds Up for St. Norbert

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College posted a goal in the ninth minute of the match and made that score hold up in a 1-0 Midwest Conference win over Illinois College at England Stadium.

The Green Knights (6-5-1, 3-1) dealt the Blueboys (9-3, 3-1) their first conference loss of the season. St. Norbert is part of five teams tied atop the MWC standings with one loss apiece.

St. Norbert scored at the 8:51 mark. Andy Frank found Tyler Kassube on a split pass to the right side of the goal. Kassube finished to the upper far post for his fifth goal of the season.

The Green Knights' defense made that goal stand the rest of the match. St. Norbert outshot Illinois College 19-7, but just 8-6 in the second half.

Eddie Sanchez made one save to post his second shutout of the season. Ty Clearwater made nine saves for the Blueboys.
