DE PERE - St. Norbert College moved back into first place in the Midwest Conference standings with an important 1-0 win over Knox College at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights (8-4, 5-1 MWC) now had 15 points in the standings, two points ahead of Lake Forest College. Knox (10-2-2, 3-1-2) suffered its first conference loss of the season.

St. Norbert scored the game's only goal in the 26th minute. Katie Vanden Avond was fouled from behind in the penalty area on a strong scoring chance, and converted the penalty kick for her 26th goal of the season and the 117th of her career at 25:45.

That marker would hold up the rest of the way. Knox had a couple of quality scoring chances in the last 10 minutes off corner kick opportunities, but St. Norbert goalkeeper Maddie Plinska made a couple of well-positioned saves to keep the shutout intact.

Knox outshot St. Norbert 17-10 and also had an 8-3 edge in corner kicks. Plinska made nine saves for the shutout. Sierra Daniger made five stops for the Prairie Fire.
