DE PERE - St. Norbert College won its seventh Midwest Conference women's soccer championship with a 5-2 triumph over Lawrence University at the Minahan Stadium Complex.

The Green Knights' win, coupled with Lake Forest College's 3-2 win at Grinnell College, allowed St. Norbert to move from third place to the top spot in its regular-season finale. The Green Knights, who won their first title since 1997 and seventh overall, finished the regular season 11-6-1 and 8-1 in the MWC.

Lawrence (7-10, 5-4 MWC) looked like it would play spoiler however in the early going, but St. Norbert would answer. The Vikings' Jackie Bean scored her first goal of the season 9:20 into the match off an assist from Alison Blegen. St. Norbert's Stephanie Gatyas would score 1:21 later on an unassisted breakaway to tie the match at 1-1.

Nearly 10 minutes later, Lawrence's Natalie Jin scored her seventh goal of the season to put the Vikings up 2-1 at the 20:18 mark. St. Norbert took the ensuing kickoff and needed just 19 seconds to score when a Jessica Schadrie cross hit Lawrence goalkeeper Lindsey Ahlen and squirted away from her across the goal line. Schadrie's score was her 22nd of the season, giving her the new school record for goals in a season.

Following a 2-2 halftime tie, St. Norbert would break the game open in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Gatyas would score the next two goals to give her a hat trick. Gatyas scored unassisted off her own rebound at 48:21, and followed with a breakaway off an assist from Ann Maki at 54:56. Katherine Larson's goal from an assist by Alissa Roff at 72:52 rounded out the scoring.

St. Norbert outshot Lawrence 24-11 and held a commanding 17-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Ahlen made 11 saves for the Vikings, while Mallory Ford made six saves for the Green Knights.
