Kosteck's Goal Leads St. Norbert to Overtime Win

DE PERE - Jillian Kosteck's goal 56 seconds into overtime lifted the Green Knights to a 3-2 win over the College of St. Scholastica in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights (11-5, 6-3 NCHA) are now 9-1 in their last 10 games, while St. Scholastica (5-10, 4-5) dropped its sixth-straight game. The two teams finish their weekend series with a game at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Resch Olympic Pavilion.

Kosteck's game-winning goal was assisted by Kylie Gazzolo and Myranda Hayes. It was Kosteck's second overtime game-winning goal of the season. Her first came on Nov. 28, 2015 in a 3-2 win at St. Mary's University.

Gazzolo put St. Norbert ahead with 16 seconds left in the first period for the only goal scored in the first 20 minutes of action.

St. Scholastica knotted the score at 1-1 when Mac Johnson scored at 10:51 of the second period, with the score staying deadlocked after 40 minutes.

Kosteck scored 41 seconds into the third period for a 2-1 lead before St. Scholastica's Abby Sawyer converted a power-play chance at 11:24 to bring the Saints back even.

Kosteck and Gazzolo both had two-point games.

St. Norbert outshot St. Scholastica 38-18. Leigh Grall made 16 saves for St. Norbert, while Lindsey Hartfiel made 35 stops for the Saints.

St. Norbert was 0-for-2 on the power play while St. Scholastica was 1-for-4.
