Green Knights Sweep St. Scholastica

DE PERE - St. Norbert College picked up a series sweep of the College of St. Scholastica with a 4-3 win in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights (12-5, 7-3) improved to 10-1 in their last 11 games with the win and now holds a six-point lead over St. Scholastica (5-11, 4-6) for third place in the NCHA standings.

St. Norbert snapped a 3-3 tie with the only goal of the third period. Reaghan Chadwick scored her team-high ninth goal of the season with the eventual game-winning marker just 1:28 into the final period with Lauren Roethlisberger assisting.

St. Scholastica pulled goaltender Lindsey Hartfiel with 1:35 remaining to get an extra attacker on the ice. The Saints then had a 6-on-4 advantage for the final 1:13 after St. Norbert's Emily Chandler was whistled for checking, but the visitors' couldn't net the equalizer.

St. Norbert scored the game's first goal at 4:10 of the first period when Roethlisberger connected for her eighth goal of the season. The Saints responded with a pair of goals by Abby Sawyer at 10:35 and 19:47 for a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

The Green Knights took a 3-2 lead when Emily Chandler scored at 3:03 of the second period and Kylie Gazzolo followed at 9:00. St. Scholastica drew even at 3-3 when Katie Josephson scored just 50 seconds later.

Roethlisberger added two assists for a three-point game, while Gazzolo and Chadwick each had a helper for two-point games.

St. Norbert outshot St. Scholastica 28-18. Leigh Grall made 15 saves for the Green Knights and Hartfiel made 24 stops for the Saints.

St. Norbert was 0-for-1 on the power play and St. Scholastica was 0-for-2.
