Green Knights Place Second at MWC Championship

GALESBURG, Ill. - St. Norbert College's men's cross country team had another solid showing at the Midwest Conference Championship, placing second at the event hosted by Knox College.

The Green Knights registered 60 points to claim runner-up honors. Meet champion Grinnell College posted a perfect score of 15 points.

Alex DeVillers placed sixth to be the first non-Grinnell runner to finish, posting a time of 26 minutes 25 seconds over the 8-kilometer course. Mackenzie Laska was ninth with a time of 26:39.

Three other St. Norbert harries claimed All-MWC honors. Jon O'Brien was 14th with a time of 26:48 and John Barrett was 15th with a time of 26:50. Aaron Roden, running in his first meet of the 2008 season, placed 16th with a time of 27:10.

Seven other Green Knights ran at the conference meet. Gavin Strawn finished 31st with a time of 28:06, followed by Eric DeSalvo in 45th with a time of 28:45. Benji Wetli placed 53rd with a time of 29:03.

Brian Curran ran in 29:17 to place 57th, followed by Mike Buettner in 74th in 30:20, Matt Leser in 77th in 30:28 and Jacob Sircy in 81st in 30:41.
