Green Knights Season Ends in MWC Tourney Final

DE PERE - The St. Norbert College women's soccer team's 2008 season came to a close with a heartbreaking 4-2 loss to Carroll University in the championship game of the Midwest Conference Tournament at the Minahan Stadium Complex.
Carroll advances to the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 13-5-2 record. The Green Knights finish 12-7-1.
The Pioneers scored three second-half goals to take command of a game tied 1-1 at halftime. Carroll's Cody Callender netted a hat trick, scoring her team's first, second and fourth goals. Her second marker came at the 56:02 mark of the match to give the Pioneers a 2-1 lead.
At the 58:21 mark, St. Norbert goalkeeper Mallory Ford was issued a red card for a hard foul, resulting in the Green Knights to play a person short the rest of the match.
Callender's first goal came at the 40:17 mark of the first half, but the Green Knights' Stephanie Gatyas squared the match at 1-1 with an unassisted score at 42:48.
Kylie Ringelstetter scored what would turn into the eventual game-winning goal off an Alyssa Low corner kick at 65:44. St. Norbert's last goal was an unassisted score by Ann Maki at 88:19.
Carroll's Ashlee Reinke made two saves for the Pioneers. Ford made two saves for the Green Knights, while Brittany Verheyen made six saves in 31:39 of relief.
Carroll outshot St. Norbert 13-5, including 9-3 in the second half. St. Norbert had six corner kicks to the Pioneers' four.
