St. Norbert Sweeps Pair of MWC Duals

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College picked up a pair of Midwest Conference dual meet wins on the road, topping Illinois College 7-2 before traveling north to blank Knox College 9-0.

The Green Knights (5-4, 2-1 MWC) got off to a good start against Illinois College with a pair of doubles wins. Kyle Battle and Zach Simonet topped Elijah Rhoad and Ryan Golab-Vice 8-1 at the No. 2 flight, while Joe Oleniczak and Kahlo Vue blanked T.J. Lawal and Austin Franceschelli 8-0 at No. 3.

Alex Vandenberg picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Michael Connolly at No. 2 singled, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 win for Battle over Rhoad at No. 3. Simonet defeated Lawal 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4, while Oleniczak topped Golab-Vice 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5. Vue then defeated Franceschelli 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.

St. Norbert won three closely contested doubles matches against Knox. Vandenberg and Ben Vande Zande defeated Ashwin Kushwaha and Rohail Khan 8-5 at No. 1, followed by an 8-4 win for Battle and Simonet over Minh Le and Errol Kaylor at No. 2. Oleniczak and Vue topped Brendon Alainz and Charlie Harned 8-3 at No. 3.

Vanden Zande won a three-set match over Kushwaha at No. 1 singles by a 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 score. Vandenberg beat Le 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 while Battle bested Khan 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 3 match. Simonet took care of Kaylor 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 and Vue defeated Alainz 6-1, 6-2. Matt La Violette then defeated Harned 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 at No. 6 singles.
