DE PERE - St. Norbert College took the second game of a doubleheader against Ripon College to earn a split on the day, winning 10-4 in the nightcap after dropping the opener 6-4 in a Midwest Conference North Division twinbill at Larry Van Alstine Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex.

The Green Knights (7-7, 3-1 MWC North) banged out 14 hits in the nightcap, including five in the eighth inning alone to pull away. The win gave St. Norbert three wins in the four-game series with the Red Hawks.

Adam Enwiya had a bloop RBI double to score Tyler Banovich in the first inning. The Green Knights added to their lead in the third inning on a Banovich RBI groundout. St. Norbert added two runs in the fourth inning on a Griffin Jack two-run single for a 4-0 lead. The Green Knights pushed ahead 5-0 on a Tyler Brown RBI single in the fifth inning.

Ripon slowly crept back into the game, getting one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings and two more runs in the eighth inning to cut the deficit to 5-4. The Green Knights scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, all after two outs, to take control. Banovich hit a booming three-run double to right-center field, followed by a run-scoring single from Enwiya. Enwiya then came around to score on the back end of a double steal for the game's final run.

Blake Rutherford earned the win for the Green Knights, going 6 2/3 innings with five hits allowed, two runs, four walks (one intentional) and four strikeouts. Enwiya was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Jack was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Hunter Larson was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Grant and Brown were also 2-for-4. Banovich finished with four RBIs.

In the opener, St. Norbert tried to rally from a 6-0 deficit but came up just short as the game ended.

Ripon scored single runs in the second and fourth innings and then added two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings. Enwiya had a two-run double in the eighth inning. Jason Malkowski had a solo home run to lead off the ninth inning and Larson added a run-scoring double later in the frame. The Green Knights had runners at second and third base with one out in the bottom of the ninth but couldn't push the runs across.

Banovich was 2-for-3, Jack 2-for-4 and Larson and Enwiya were both 2-for-5. Sam Neville took the loss for St. Norbert, allowing seven hits, six runs (four earned) with two strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings pitched.
