MADISON - St. Norbert College's season came to an end with a 5-2 loss to Grinnell College in the semifinals of the Midwest Conference Team Tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Senior Erika Chitko was awarded the MWC Elite 20 Award for women's tennis, which is awarded to the tournament participant with the top grade point average. Chitko, a middle childhood/early adolescence education major, owns a 3.85 grade point average.

St. Norbert was only able to take one doubles point from the Pioneers. Chitko and Elizabeth Manlick beat Amelia Cogan and Judith Fan 9-7 at No. 1. Claire Hetzel and Maggie Krummel narrowly lost a 9-7 decision to Grinnell's Julia Rumley and Sydney Banach at No. 3.

Manlick picked up St. Norbert's lone singles point, a 6-2, 6-0 win over Virginia Purcell at No. 2.

The Green Knights were leading the two unfinished matches when the dual match halted after Grinnell had secured the victory.
