Three Reach Semifinals at MWC Singles Championships

MADISON - St. Norbert College sent three players through to the semifinals at the Midwest Conference Singles Championships at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Zach Simonet, Joe Oleniczak and Matt La Violette all reached the semifinals at their respective flights before being eliminated.

Simonet advanced to the semifinals at No. 4 singles before losing to Tracy Johnson of Grinnell College 6-0, 6-1. Simonet beat Cornell College's Corey Duncan 6-3, 6-2 in his quarterfinal match.

Oleniczak lost to Grinnell's Sam Stickels at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0 in his semifinal contest. Oleniczak beat Lawrence University's Adam Busch 6-4, 6-4 in his quarterfinal pairing.

La Violette fell to Ronnie Griffin 6-0, 6-0 in a semifinal match at No. 6 flight. La Violette, the No. 6 seeding in the flight, knocked off No. 3 seeding Joe Bove in a quarterfinal match 6-1, 6-3.

Kyle Battle reached the consolation final at No. 3 singles before falling to Bill Schuman-Kline 8-0.
