St. Norbert Announces Incoming Recruits for Fall 2016

DE PERE - The St. Norbert College men's soccer program has announced its incoming recruiting class for the fall of 2016. The class includes nine freshmen and one transfer who has already been with the Green Knights but missed the 2015 season due to injury.

Ian Lofdahl, who sat out last season with a medical hardship, is a transfer from NCAA Division II Southern Indiana and is an alumnus of Green Bay Preble High School. Lofdahl will join former club teammates and St. Norbert starters Sean Sladky and Alex Schumacher.

Ben Prange is from Wauwatosa East High School. He played his high school soccer in the Greater Metro Conference for Wauwatosa East and played club ball for North Shore United and Wisconsin Fire (Chicago Fire Emerging Talent Program). Prange was a two-time all-Greater Metro selection and was two-time honorable mention all-state honoree.

Brandon DiOrio is a midfielder from St. Charles (Ill.) East High School and his club for Campton United. A team captain at St. Charles East, he was a first-team All-Upstate Eight Conference selection and also received the Upstate Eight Sportsmanship Award.

Josh Koleske is a goalkeeper from Appleton North High School and Appleton Soccer Club. Koleske, who stands 6-foot-3, was an All-Fox Valley Association selection with a 15-3-1 record and 0.79 goals against average. He was an honorable mention all-state honoree his senior year.

Anthony Pineda is midfielder from St. Viator (Ill.) High School and his club soccer for Elite SC and FC Chicago. A three-year starter, Pineda was a first-team All-Chicago East Suburban Catholic Conference selection as a senior.

Anthony Masello played high school soccer at Downers Grove South (Ill.) High School and played his club soccer at Oak Brook. Downers Grove South finished 29-7-7 in his junior and senior seasons.

Ryan Hansen, a forward from Pulaski, is a three-time All-Fox River Classic Conference selection and was the FRCC Offensive Player of the Year as a junior. He was all-state as a junior and finished with 85 career goals.

Evan Watzka is from Green Bay Notre Dame Academy and played his club soccer at Allouez and Green Bay Lightning, and will be reunited with his former club teammates: Sean Sladky, Alex Schumacher and Ian Lofdahl. Watzka is a two-time all-state honorable mention honoree and is a two-time All-Fox River Classic Conference selection.

Michael DeGroot is from Mounds View (Minn.) High School. DeGroot was a captain of his high school Mounds View team and his club team Blaine Soccer Club. He was a second-team All-State selection as a senior and was a two-time all-conference honoree.

Austin Gunkel is a goalkeeper from Mounds View (Minn.) High School. Gunkel was the starting goalkeeper at his high school (Mounds View) and his club team Blaine Soccer Club.

St. Norbert opens the 2016 season on Sept. 1 at Lakeland University. The Green Knights are coming off a 11-5-3 season and the Midwest Conference regular-season championship.
