St. Norbert Wins MWC Opener Against Lawrence

DE PERE - St. Norbert College picked up a win in its Midwest Conference dual meet opener with a 9-0 triumph over Lawrence University at Green Bay Tennis Center. The Green Knights later squared off with UW-La Crosse in a non-conference match, losing 8-1.

St. Norbert got three doubles wins against the Vikings. Elizabeth Manlick and Meg Witt beat Katie Frankel and Lindsay Holsen 8-5 at No. 1, followed by an 8-1 win for Katherine Ake and Katlyn Gahan over Annie Harincar and Alicia Lex at No. 2. Anna Gosz and Ashley Randazzo then beat Elana Lambert and Alexis Shannon 8-4 at No. 3.

Manlick defeated Frankel 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Ake beat Holsen 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2. Gosz beat Lambert 6-0, 6-4 and Gahan went on to top Harincar 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4. Randzzo blanked Shannon 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Witt topped El Goblirsch 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6.

Against UW-La Crosse, Ake and Gahan claimed St. Norbert's lone win with a 9-8 (7-5) win over Alaina Bublitz and Lauren Weise at No. 2 doubles.
