Green Knights Sweep Pair of MWC Matches

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College moved to 3-0 in the Midwest Conference with a pair of 9-0 wins over Illinois College and Knox College.

The Green Knights (3-2, 3-0 MWC) got off to a good start in doubles play against Illinois College. Anna Gosz and Ashley Randazzo beat Lena Reed and Madelyn Deardorff 8-0 at No. 3, while Katherine Ake and Katlyn Gahan topped Jovanna Chavez and Lisa Noggle 8-1 at No. 2. Elizabeth Manlick and Meg Witt defeated Kathryn Ryan and Sally Kate Hixson 8-5 at No. 1.

Gosz blanked Reed 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, while Witt clipped Deardorff 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6. Ake beat Hixson 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Manlick beat Ryan and Gahan defeated Chavez 6-3, 6-1 at Nos. 1 and 4 singles, respectively. Randazzo defeated Noggle 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5.

Against Knox, the duo of Manlick and Witt beat Savannah Sailors and Maddie Schacht 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Ake and Gahan topped Melissa Smith and Annaliese McDermott 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. Randazzo and Gosz bested Emily Miller and Clare Colt 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.

Manlick blanked Miller 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Ake and Witt both picked up 6-0, 6-1 wins over Schacht and Sierra Henry at Nos. 2 and 6 singles, respectively. Randazzo flipped the score to beat Colt 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Gosz beat Sailors 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 and Gahan followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over McDermott at No. 4.
