Johnson's Huge Night Powers St. Norbert Past Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College's Anika Johnson converted 21 kills to lead the Green Knights to a 3-0 win over Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference match at Glennie Gym.

The Green Knights (10-13, 5-1 MWC) beat the Fighting Scots 25-23, 25-20, 25-23.

Johnson registered more than half of the Green Knights' team kills total, getting 21 of St. Norbert's 39. Johnson finished with a .472 hitting percentage, getting her 21 kills against four errors in 36 attempts.

Johnson's total was five short of the St. Norbert record for kills in a three-set match of 26, set by Katie Carrier against Grinnell College in 2001. It was St. Norbert's first 20-kill performance since at least the 2004 season.

Lexie Van Hiel added seven kills for the St. Norbert offense, which hit .113 with 39 kills and 25 errors in 124 attempts. Emily Rohloff had 17 assists and Anna Berghoefer added 16 assists.

Aubree Antosch had a team-high 16 digs while Jaisah Lee added 11 digs. Johnson and Hannah Johnshoy had two blocks each.

Monmouth hit .140 for the match, with 31 kills and 15 errors in 114 attempts. Ashley Farris had eight kills to lead the Fighting Scots.
