St. Norbert to Face Luther at St. Thomas in NCAA Tournament

DE PERE -- St. Norbert College will face Luther College in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.

The Green Knights (16-3-1) will face the Norse (14-5-2) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Thomas' South Field. St. Thomas (16-1-3) will face College of St. Scholastica (12-7-1) in the other first-round game. The winners will play at 1 p.m. Sunday for the right to advance to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16.

St. Norbert is making its sixth appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament and its first since 2006, the final year of five consecutive seasons of qualifying. The Green Knights, who won the Midwest Conference Tournament, are 1-5-1 all-time in the tournament.

Luther is making its eighth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and first since 2013. The Norse, who won the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament after finishing in a four-way tie for third place during the regular season, are 8-5-2 all-time in the tournament.

St. Thomas, champions of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament, is making its sixth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. It is the Tommies' first appearance since 1995 and they are 2-5 all-time in the tournament.

St. Scholastica, champions of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference regular season and tournament, is making its sixth all-time NCAA Division III Tournament appearance -- all since 2010 -- and is 0-5 all-time in the tournament.
