Green Knights Romp to Sweep of Beloit

BELOIT - St. Norbert College opened Midwest Conference action in grand style with a Midwest Conference doubleheader sweep of Beloit College by scores of 8-0 and 12-0 at the Strong Stadium Complex.

The Green Knights (4-8, 2-0 MWC) cruised to the win in the opener behind Sydney Pfotenhauer's one-hit shutout. She struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Ashley Schuettpelz doubled in a run and later scored on a wild pitch for two runs in the second inning. Tia Danforth drove in Leigh Grall with a triple in the third inning, with Danforth later scoring on a fielder's choice.

St. Norbert ended the game with four runs in the fifth inning. Pfotenhauer had a two-run double in the winning along with an RBI single by Amy McBride and Randi Morack forcing in a run on a bases-loaded walk.

St. Norbert had six hits, with Lexy Campshure adding a double for the Green Knights' other extra base hit.

In the nightcap St. Norbert banged out 16 hits to cruise to the win.

Campshure blasted a two-run home run in the second inning, followed by an RBI triple by Maria Reiter. Danforth's RBI double keyed a two-run third inning for a 5-0 lead. Ashley Zimmerman's RBI double in the sixth made it 6-0.

The Green Knights scored six runs on six hits in the seventh inning to break the game open. Danforth and Zimmerman had run-scoring doubles, while Carley Frauenhoff had an RBI single.

Morack, Danforth, Amanda Diedrich, Zimmerman, Frauenhoff, McBride and Reiter had two hits apiece. Danforth and Zimmerman each had two doubles, while Morack scored three runs.

Emma Molenhouse was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
