St. Norbert Splits With Alverno, St. Mary's

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College split a pair of non-conference matches, defeating Alverno College 9-0 before succumbing 7-2 to St. Mary's University at Western Racquet and Fitness Club.

The Green Knights (16-9) had little trouble with Alverno, easily winning all nine matches. Elizabeth Manlick and Meg Witt beat Brooke McBain and Laeren Yates 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Katherine Ake and Stephanie Doerfert topped Lia Hutchins and Michelle Alexander 8-1 at No. 2, while Anna Gosz and Claire Hetzel blanked Lorinn Knoblauch and Aldeandria Malicki 8-0 at No. 3.

Manlick picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over McBain at No. 1 singles. Ake beat Yates 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, while Gosz dispatched Alexander 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3. Witt topped Hutchins 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4, followed by a 6-0, 6-1 win for Doerfert over Malicki at No. 5. Maggie Krummel beat Knobluach 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.

Against St. Mary's, Ake and Doerfert beat Cassandra Barr and Julia Boeve 9-8 (7-4) at No. 2 doubles.

St. Norbert's lone singles match win came in a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 triumph for Krummel over Marissa Kinzer at No. 6.
