DE PERE - St. Norbert College had a successful home opener by sweeping a Midwest Conference doubleheader from Ripon College by scores of 4-0 and 4-0 at Miron Construction Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex.

The Green Knights (7-9, 5-1 MWC) have now won six of their last seven games after a 1-8 start.

The first game was a classic pitchers' duel between St. Norbert's Sydney Pfotenhauer and Ripon's Lexi Reetz. Ripon had the first good scoring chance in the third inning when Ashley Parkkonen led off the frame with a triple, but Pfotenhauer worked out of the jam with three groundouts to prevent a run from scoring.

The Green Knights did not have a hit against Reetz until the sixth inning, when they strung four hits together to plate four runs. Brianna Breager singled with one out. Following a sacrifice bunt, Braeger stole third. Leigh Grall's towering fly to left was erred to bring in the first run. Tia Danforth and Amanda Diedrich followed with singles to load the bases. Lexy Campshure then doubled to clear the bases for a 4-0 lead.

Pfotenhauer allowed just five hits and had a rare no-walk, no-strikeout performance. Reetz allowed just four hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Reetz matched up with St. Norbert's Emma Molenhouse in the nightcap, with the Green Knights again scoring late to claim the victory.

Amy McBride and Maria Reiter singled with two outs in the fifth inning, and Braeger followed with a double for a 1-0 lead. St. Norbert then scored three times in the sixth inning, with Campshure doubling in two runs and Carley Frauenhoff bringing home another on a sacrifice fly.

Molenhouse allowed just four hits with no walks and one strikeout.

Braeger and Grall were both 2-for-3, with Grall doubling. The Green Knights finished with nine hits.
