Morateck Leads St. Norbert Effort at Penn, Drake

PHILADELPHIA - Sam Morateck led St. Norbert College's effort at the 123rd Annual Penn Relays by finishing second in the college women's high jump at historic Franklin Field.

Morateck cleared the bar at 5 feet 7 1/4 inches on her first attempt, but finished second to Inter American University of Puerto Rico's Darlene Mercado. Mercado cleared 5-8 3/4 on her second try. A total of 41 competitors were in the event.

The distance medley relay of Taylor Domro, Haley Joosten, Clarissa Jauregui and Brittany Kozlowski were the top NCAA Division III quartet in the event, finishing with a time of 12:01.84.

Erin Artz was entered in the 10,000-meter run but was caught up in a collision at the start of the race, necessitating a restart. Artz attempted to continue after the restart but did not finish.

At the 108th Annual Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, St. Norbert's 4x100-meter relay of Mekenzie Mattes, Maddie LeBrun, Kaitlyn Hintz and Haidyn Mueller finished 30th in 50.99 seconds.

Mattes, Mueller, LeBrun and Hailey Ruplinger competed in the sprint medley relay at Drake, finishing 16th with a time of 4:18.42.
