St. Norbert Falls to Gustavus Adolphus in NCAA Tournament

CHICAGO - St. Norbert College saw its 2016-17 season end with a 5-0 loss to Gustavus Adolphus College in a first-round NCAA Division III Tournament match at the University of Chicago's Stagg Tennis Courts.

The Green Knights, making their third NCAA Tournament appearance, had their season end 21-14 overall.

The Golden Gusties (20-8) swept all three doubles matches to gain momentum. Michaela Schulz and Ally Baker topped Anna Gosz and Ashley Randazzo 8-1 at No. 1. Katie Aney and Lilly Hartman then followed with an 8-4 win over Meg Witt and Claire Hetzel 8-4 at No. 3. Katherine Ake and Stephanie Doerfert then fell 8-5 to Cal Carlson and Briana Hartman at No. 2.

Aney then topped Witt 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles for a 4-0 lead. Gustavus Adolphus clinched the match when Hartman defeated Randazzo 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

Ake (No. 1), Gosz (No. 2), Doerfert (No. 5) and Maggie Krummel (No. 6) all had unfinished matches after the Golden Gusties locked up the win.
