Green Knights Tumble at Beloit

BELOIT - St. Norbert College shot 34 percent from the floor, sending the Green Knights to a 65-52 road loss to Beloit College at Flood Arena.

The Green Knights dropped to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the Midwest Conference, while the Buccaneers improved to 5-4 and 3-0, respectively.

St. Norbert held a brief 9-8 lead five minutes into the game on a Krista Pelky jumper. After a 10-10 tie, Mary Parker's two free throws with 13:44 left in the first half but the Buccaneers up to stay. Beloit went on a 13-3 run after the tie to take a 23-13 lead with 7:47 left in the half.

The Buccaneers pushed their bulge out to 30-17 with 3:48 to go before halftime before the Green Knights went on an 11-1 run to end the half trailing just 31-28.

Emily Otzelberger's layup one minute into the second half brought the Green Knights to within 31-30, but St. Norbert would get no closer. St. Norbert trailed 41-38 with 13:57 left but Beloit's Amanda Moore canned a 3-pointer and the hosts never led by less than six points the rest of the game.

St. Norbert was just 19-for-56 from the floor, making 3 of 18 3-pointers. The Green Knights also had 22 turnovers. Rachel Hermus had a team-high 15 points, while Pelky added 14 points and Denise Heuser 10.

Beloit shot 45.3 percent from the floor, making 24 of 53 shots. The Buccaneers were also 15-for-22 at the free-throw line and held a 41-32 rebounding edge. Mary Parker had a game-high 22 points, while Sarah Stariha added 11.
