Green Knights Gain Two More Wins Vs. WIAC

MENOMONIE - St. Norbert College earned two wins over Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes with an 8-1 win over UW-River Falls and a 7-2 triumph over UW-Stout at Stout.

The Green Knights (10-3), who also beat UW-Stevens Point 7-2 just a day earlier, finished the weekend 3-0 against WIAC opponents.

St. Norbert took two of three doubles points against River Falls. Meg Witt and Sofie Koppmann beat Brittany Asfeld and Krista Haglund 8-5 at No. 1. Claire Hetzel and Stephanie Doerfert topped Karli Helland and Marilyn Schimanski 8-0 at No. 3.

Jordyn Lawatsch beat Asfeld 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1, while Witt earned a default win at No. 2. Lauren Paulson defeated Haglund 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3, while Hetzel clipped Hannah Andress 7-6 (9-7), 6-0 at No. 4. Doerfert beat Helland 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5, and Koppmann clipped Schimanski 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.

Against Stout, St. Norbert won all three doubles points to take control.

Witt and Koppman tipped Linsey Thisius and Katie Kreibich 9-7 at No. 1. Lawatsch and Paulson beat Annie Sandry and Jenna Welke 8-4 at No. 2. Hetzel and Doerfert earned an 8-1 win over Sutton Beck and Ellen Miller at No. 3.

Lawatsch blanked Thisius 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Witt trimmed Kreibich 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2, while Doerfert topped Welke 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 3. Gina Kerscher slipped past Kennedy Kleist 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 at No. 6.
