WINONA, Minn. - St. Norbert College opened the 2017-18 season with a 3-1 loss to St. Mary's University in a non-conference game at SMU Ice Arena.

The Green Knights (0-1) fell behind just 3:36 into the game on a Bailey Wendt power-play goal, but knotted the score just 2:12 later when Lauren Michael scored off a Kenny Farrey assist.

The Cardinals (2-0) would take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission after Jamie Henderson scored a power-play marker at 14:10 of the first period.

That goal would hold up until Wendt salted the game away for St. Mary's with a power-play goal at 6:11 of the third period.

St. Norbert had 12 seconds of extra-attacker time late before a penalty forced the Green Knights to reenter Leigh Grall between the pipes.

St. Mary's outshot the Green Knights 31-29. Grall made 28 saves for St. Norbert, while Ary Ziakas made 28 saves for St. Mary's. The Cardinals were 3-for-6 on the power play, while the Green Knights were 0-for-2.
