St. Norbert Runs Out of Steam at UW-River Falls

RIVER FALLS - St. Norbert College hung around for three quarters but but couldn't hold up in the last 10 minutes in a 55-37 loss to UW-River Falls at Page Arena.

The Green Knights (1-1) trailed 22-18 at halftime and 32-25 after three quarters, but the Falcons (3-0) held a 23-12 advantage in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

St. Norbert jumped out to a 9-1 lead, getting five points from Sarah Wiseman and a pair of buckets by Liz Edinger. Wiseman scored later in the first quarter to give the Green Knights an 11-6 edge after the first quarter.

The Green Knights led 17-15 with 2:21 left in the second quarter after a Hannah Ciesielczyk free throw, but the Falcons went on a 7-1 run the rest of the period to take a 22-18 halftime lead.

Hayley Winzenried's 3-pointer at the 7:10 mark of the third quarter gave the Green Knights their last lead at 23-22, with a 10-0 River Falls run putting the host in control for good.

Wiseman led St. Norbert with 11 points, while Regan Carmichael added six points. The Green Knights shot 11-for-42 (26.2 percent) from the field and were outrebounded 42-31.

River Falls shot 37.5 percent (21-for-56) from the floor. Taylor Karge led the Falcons with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
