Green Knights Fall In Overtime To UW-Eau Claire

DE PERE - St. Norbert College couldn't hold on to a five-point lead in the fourth quarter and dropped a 50-48 overtime decision to UW-Eau Claire in a non-conference game at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights (1-2) held a 42-37 lead on Hannah Ciesielczyk's layup with 7:13 remaining. Eau Claire (3-0) battled back, taking a 44-42 lead with 3:04 left before Regan Carmichael's basket at the 2:46 mark tied the game. Ciesielczyk scored again with 1:54 left to give the Green Knights a 46-44 lead, but the Blugolds' Kayla Hanley tied the game on a putback with 55 seconds left. St. Norbert's shot at the end of regulation was offline.

Eau Claire scored the first four points of overtime on baskets by Hallee Hoeppner and Jenni LaCroix, and Carmichael converted a pair of free throws with 3:26 left. Neither team scored the rest of the game, with the Green Knights missing three shots in the final 30 seconds.

St. Norbert led by as many as nine points in the first half, holding a 22-13 lead with 5:09 left in the second quarter. The Blugolds closed out the quarter on an 8-2 run to trail 24-21 at halftime.

The Green Knights shot 34.0 percent (18-for-53) from the floor. Carmichael was the only St. Norbert player in double figures, finishing with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Eau Claire shot 35.7 percent (20-for-56) from the floor, with Anna Graaskamp leading the Blugolds with 18 points.
