St. Norbert Battles Past Prairie Fire

DE PERE - St. Norbert College made the most of its offensive opportunities and went on to claim a 65-61 win over Knox College in a Midwest Conference game at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights (3-3, 1-0 MWC) committed just nine turnovers en route to taking 59 field-goal attempts.

St. Norbert led 11-7 after the first quarter and then opened the second stanza on a 15-7 run to take a 26-14 lead on the third of three Carley Frauenhoff 3-pointers for a 26-14 edge with 4:26 left in the period. The Green Knights led 28-22 at halftime.

Knox (3-1, 0-1) would battle back to within one at 33-32 early in the third quarter, but a 6-0 run by the Green Knights - with four points coming from Liz Edinger - put St. Norbert ahead 39-32. The Prairie Fire got to within 41-38 with 4:11 left in the period before St. Norbert went on a big 11-2 run, capped by another Frauenhoff triple, before settling on a 52-41 lead after 30 minutes.

St. Norbert led 58-47 with 6:28 left before Knox made a last-ditch effort to get back into the game. The Prairie Fire went on an 11-4 run to trail 62-58 with 2:34 left. The Green Knights wouldn't score for almost two minutes, but Knox missed three shots and couldn't get any closer. St. Norbert closed out the game with three Sarah Wiseman free throws inside 35 seconds to play.

Frauenhoff finished with a career-high 14 points, while Edinger also had a career-high 14 points. Sarah Neumann had 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Wiseman added 12 points. The Green Knights shot 42.4 percent (25-for-59) from the floor.

Knox shot 44.2 percent (23-for-52) from the floor but committed 19 turnovers. Kyra Huffman led the Prairie Fire with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
