Green Knights Finish Busy Week With Win

DE PERE - Playing its fourth game in seven days, St. Norbert College held up to stake a 66-44 win over Illinois College in a Midwest Conference game at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights (4-3, 2-0 MWC) finished 3-1 in their busy week - including sweeping a pair of games this weekend to open MWC play.

St. Norbert never trailed, leading 8-0 just about 2 1/2 minutes into the game. The Green Knights led 19-13 after the first quarter and slowly built their lead in the second quarter. Sarah Wiseman's 3-pointer put St. Norbert ahead 29-19 with 1:45 left in the first half. Liz Edinger's buzzer-beating jumper put St. Norbert ahead 35-24 at halftime.

The Lady Blues (2-6, 0-2) got to within 12 at 40-28 with 8:14 left in the third quarter, but St. Norbert went on a 7-1 run to put the game away. Sarah Neumann's free throw started the run, which was followed by her layup. Illinois College's Brielle Greenleaf split a pair of free throws, but Edinger answered with a pair of free throws and Hayley Winzenried's basket put the Green Knights ahead 47-29 with 5:59 left in the third quarter.

St. Norbert led 54-38 after three quarters and was never threatened in the fourth quarter.

Edinger finished with career-highs with 20 points and eight assists. Wiseman matched a career high with 17 points, while Neumann finished with a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sara Winkel grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds. St. Norbert shot 42.6 percent (26-for-61) from the floor.

Illinois College shot 27.6 percent (16-for-58) from the floor. Greenleaf led the Lady Blues with 12 points, while Shannen Quehl added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
