St. Norbert Earns Big Win at Marian

FOND DU LAC - A quick start lifted St. Norbert College to a 2-1 win over Marian University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Blue Line Family Ice Center.

The Green Knights (5-8-3, 5-2-2 NCHA) scored twice in the first period to get the jump on the Sabres (4-12, 3-6). Lexi Pyykkonen scored a power-play goal at the 13:50 mark, getting assists from Kelli Sorge and Natasha Smith. Lisa Lenell followed with an unassisted marker at 18:31 of the frame for a two-goal edge.

Marian would halve its deficit late in the second period when Calle Bye scored a power-play goal at 17:24.

The Sabres had an extra attacker on the ice for the last 57 seconds of the game but the Green Knights held off the home team.

St. Norbert outshot Marian 35-20. Leigh Grall made 19 saves for the Green Knights, while Lindsey Strainis made 33 stops for the Sabres.

Both teams were 1-for-3 on the power play.
