Green Knights Bomb Lawrence

DE PERE - St. Norbert College turned in a complete performance with an 85-52 rout of Lawrence University in a Midwest Conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Jim Kress Gymnasium in Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights (14-4, 9-2) moved into sole possession of first place with the win and Knox College's 77-73 win over Monmouth College. The victory was also St. Norbert's 18th consecutive win over the Vikings (10-7, 6-5).

St. Norbert snapped a 2-2 tie with a 14-2 run to take control of the game. Connor Curtis and Wade Geenen hit 3-pointers during the run, which was capped off by a dunk from Curtis for a 16-4 lead just over seven minutes into the game. The Vikings cut the deficit to eight at 25-17 with 4:23 left before halftime, but St. Norbert went on a 13-4 run to take a 38-21 lead with 1:24 to go. D.J. DeValk had a conventional three-point play during the run, while Geenen canned another 3-pointer. St. Norbert led 40-23 at halftime.

Lawrence scored the opening basket of the second half but St. Norbert responded with a monster 22-2 run to take a 62-27 lead with 12:31 remaining and effectively decide the outcome.

St. Norbert shot 56.1 percent (32-for-57) from the floor and was 12-for-23 (52.2 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. Taylor Penn led the Green Knights with 14 points, and was 4-for-4 from distance. Mitchell Reinthaler added 12 points. A total of 12 different Green Knights reached the scoring column.

Lawrence shot 40 percent (20-for-50) from the floor. Mason Materna led the Vikings off the bench with 15 points.
