Big Comeback Comes Up Short for St. Norbert

DE PERE - St. Norbert College charged back from a 20-point halftime deficit and held a five-point fourth-quarter lead but eventually succumbed 59-57 to Lake Forest College on Connie Tilley Court in Jim Kress Gymnasium at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights (7-5) fell behind 36-16 at halftime behind a 21-4 disparity in the scoring in the second quarter.

St. Norbert responded with a big 25-8 edge in the third quarter, with Macie Zurfluh's layup bringing the Green Knights to within 44-41 after the third quarter.

The Green Knights took a 51-46 lead with 6:36 left on a conventional three-point play by Sarah Wiseman. The Foresters came back to tie the game 53-53 with 3:23 left, but Zurfluh canned a pair baskets for a 57-53 lead with 2:05 to go. Lake Forest would score the last six points of the game to steal the win, getting the game-winning basket by Hannah O'Day with 1.6 seconds left.

Wiseman led St. Norbert with 17 points, while Zurfluh and Sarah Ratajczyk had 10 points apiece. The Green Knights shot 35 percent (21-for-60) from the floor and were 14-for-21 from the free-throw line.

Lake Forest shot 43.6 percent (24-for-55) from the floor. O'Day and Kelsey Schmitt had 12 points apiece.
