Green Knights Post Season-High Eight Goals at Finlandia

HANCOCK, Mich. - St. Norbert College poured in a season-high eight goals en route to an 8-1 win over Finlandia University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Houghton County Arena.

The Green Knights (19-4-1, 14-3 NCHA), ranked No. 2 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll and No. 3 in the D3hockey.com Poll, held a commanding 5-0 lead by first intermission.

Tyler Andrews got things started with a goal at 3:06, followed by a Steven Mather marker at 6:20. The Green Knights then scored three times just 1:27 apart to blow the game open. Luke Davison scored at 16:42, followed by a Dominick Sacco goal at 17:04. Tanner Froese followed at 18:09.

Finlandia would get on the board with a Michael Chuinard goal at 3:30, but the Green Knights got the goal back 20 seconds later on a William Yates goal. Yates scored 35 seconds into the third period, followed by Logan Froberg's first collegiate goal with a power-play marker with 3:21 remaining.

Yates finished with two assists for a four-point night. Davison had two assists to give him three points, while Luke Karakas had three assists. Froese registered a helper for a multi-point game, while Brad Pung and Steven Phillips both had two assists.

St. Norbert outshot Finlandia 32-14 and was 1-for-3 on the power play, while holding the Lions to 0-for-3 with the extra man.

T.J. Black made four saves in the first period for the Green Knights, while Ryan Bontorin worked the final two periods and made nine stops. Marcus Gloss (eight) and Matt Arnold (16) combined to make 24 saves for Finlandia.
