Green Knights Open MWC Play With Split

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College opened Midwest Conference play with a split of dual matches, losing 9-0 to Grinnell College before bouncing back to top Cornell College 5-4 at Western Racquet & Fitness Club.

The Green Knights (6-6, 1-1 MWC) earned two wins in doubles play to take a 2-1 lead. Zach Simonet and John Zanotti topped Tucker Barnes and Tom Greene 8-3 at No. 2, while Alex Vandenberg and Joe Oleniczak bested Connor Schanen and Auston Sack 8-1 at No. 3.

Robert Quinlan defeated Barnes 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Jordan Crump followed with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Schanen at No. 5, while Vandenberg topped Sack 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.

Against Grinnell, Ben Vande Zande had a three-set loss to Zach Lane 4-6, 7-6, 10-1 at No. 1 singles.
