DE PERE - St. Norbert College built a large early lead and went on to claim an 8-3 win over Marian University in a non-conference game at Larry Van Alstine Field.

The Green Knights (11-5) took an 8-0 lead into the top of the ninth inning. Marian plated three runs and had the bases loaded with nobody out. St. Norbert pitcher Riley Lynch stabbed a line drive from Marian's Sean Meyer and threw to Tyler Banovich at first for a second out. Banovich fired to second base where shortstop Brett Reinhart got the throw in time to record the game-ending out. It was the first triple play St. Norbert has turned defensively in Tom Winske's 20-year tenure as head coach.

St. Norbert built its lead starting with a five-run third inning, getting five hits in the frame. Sean Grant had a two-run single, followed by run-scoring singles from Griffin Jack, Jason Malkowski and Robbie Dombrowski.

The Green Knights added two runs in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Jack Maastricht. Sean Ferraro scored the eighth run when he beat a throw home on a fielder's choice off the bat of Grant.

Tommy Maher earned the win in his first collegiate appearance on the mound, allowing just two hits with no walks and two strikeouts in six innings of work.

Hunter Larson was 2-for-3, while Jack was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Ferraro also scored two runs for the Green Knights.
