Green Knights Top Blueboys In Key MWC Match

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - St. Norbert College picked up an important 6-3 win over Illinois College in a Midwest Conference dual.

The doubles matches were played at Illinois College in Jacksonville before rain forced the singles matches to be played indoors in Bloomington. The Blueboys (7-6, 3-2 MWC) entered the matchup in third place in the MWC standings, while St. Norbert (7-7, 2-2) was tied for fifth.

St. Norbert got the jump with a pair of doubles points. Ben Vande Zande and Robert Quinlan earned an 8-6 win over Miguel Vaca and Michael Connolly at No. 1. John Zanotti and Zach Simonet defeated Cameron Doerr and Rolando Salazar 8-2 at No. 2.

Zanotti earned a three-set win with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over Nazar Otunchiev at No. 2 singles. Jordan Crump also engineered a three-set win over Salazar by a score of 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 at No. 5. Quinlan blanked Connolly 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, while Luke Andrekus turned in a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Jacob McQueen at No. 6.
