St. Norbert Splits MWC Matches

GALESBURG, Ill. - St. Norbert College split a pair of Midwest Conference dual matches, losing to Monmouth College 7-2 before bouncing back to defeat Knox College 9-0.

St. Norbert's Nos. 1 and 2 doubles tandems each picked up an 8-1 win over Knox. Ben Vande Zande and Robert Quinland defeated Jared Schwarz and Ganesh Uppalapu at No. 1, while Zach Simonet and John Zanotti topped Jeff Xue and Brad Newland at No. 2. Joe Oleniczak and Luke Andrekus earned an 8-0 win over Hank Horwitz and Lucas Sanchez at No. 3.

Vande Zande defeated Schwarz 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, followed by Zanotti's 6-2, 6-4 win over Xue at No. 2. Jordan Crump earned a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Uppalapu at No. 3, while Andrekus defeated Newland 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4. Andrew Gehring bested Matt Bailey 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5, while Matt Voissem upended Horwitz 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6.

Against Monmouth, Oleniczak and Andrekus earned an 8-4 win over Zach Harris and Joseph Shie at No. 3 doubles. Andrekus pulled out a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2) win over Harris at No. 6 singles for the Green Knights' other victory.
