Green Knights Split at MWC Crossover

GALESBURG, Ill. - St. Norbert College split its last two games at the Midwest Conference Crossover with an 8-2 win over Knox College and a 12-2 loss to Cornell College.

St. Norbert scored five runs in the top of the first inning against Knox to take control, highlighted by a two-run single by Jason Malkowski. Robbie Dombrowski had a run-scoring groundout and Lucas Reynolds an RBI single later in the inning.

Griffin Jack had an RBI groundout to plate Sean Grant in the second inning for a 6-0 lead. Dombrowski's RBI single in the fifth inning put the Green Knights ahead 7-0. Knox scored a run in its half of the fifth inning, but St. Norbert got the run back on a Tyler Banovich run-scoring double in the eighth. Knox scored a single run in the ninth for the game's final tally.

Reynolds was 2-for-4, while Banovich and Malkowski were each 2-for-5. Nick Klavekoske earned the win, striking out eight in six innings of work allowing just one run.

Against Cornell, the Rams built a 10-0 lead through five innings and the Green Knights couldn't recover. Grant had an RBI grounder in the sixth and Peyton Jack a run-scoring double in the seventh.

St. Norbert had four hits against Cornell.
