APPLETON - St. Norbert College went to extra innings in both games of its Midwest Conference doubleheader at Lawrence University, dropping the opener 3-2 in eight innings before bouncing back to win 3-2 in nine innings at Whiting Field.

St. Norbert pushed across a run in the top of the ninth inning in the nightcap. Brianna Braeger led off the frame with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Following a flyout, Leigh Grall's single moved Braeger up to third base. Following a popout, a ball hit to the outfield was misplayed allowing Braeger to cross home plate. Lawrence got a runner to second base with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, but couldn't tie the game.

The Green Knights took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Lexy Campshure's run-scoring single to bring home Carley Frauenhoff. Lawrence tied the game with a run in the fifth inning. St. Norbert scored an unearned run in the seventh inning but the Vikings would force extra innings with a run in the bottom of the stanza.

Braeger and Grall were both 3-for-5, while Campshure and Randi Morack had two hits apiece to pace a 12-hit attack. McCoy Mix earned the win in relief, allowing four hits with one strikeout in four innings pitched.

In the opener, Amanda Diedrich gave St. Norbert a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. The Vikings answered with single runs in the first and third innings to take a 2-1 lead. Braeger tied the game with a run-scoring grounder in the top of the seventh inning, but the Vikings scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

Diedrich and Morack were both 2-for-4 for the Green Knights, who had eight hits. Emma Molenhouse took the complete-game loss, allowing eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
