St. Norbert Swept at Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College was swept in a non-conference doubleheader at Benedictine University by scores of 7-4 and 8-7.

St. Norbert took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning in the opener but fell behind 5-3 after three innings. Griffin Jack had a run-scoring double in the first inning and the Green Knights added two more runs on an infield error. The Eagles answered with two runs in each of the first two innings and a single run in the third inning to take the lead.

Robbie Dombrowski had a run-scoring double in the fourth inning for St. Norbert, which had just four hits for the game. Benedictine scored a pair of insurance runs in the sixth inning.

In the nightcap, Hunter Larson had an RBI double in the first inning and Brett Reinhart an RBI triple in the second inning. Benedictine scored three runs in the first inning, two runs in the second inning and one run in the third inning to take a 6-2 edge.

St. Norbert answered with four runs on two hits in the top of the fourth inning. Reinhart had a sacrifice fly, Jason Malkowski a two-run single and Larson an RBI single to complete the rally. Benedictine scored twice in the fifth inning, while St. Norbert got a run back in the sixth inning on a sacrifice bunt by Larson, but would get no closer.

Larson was 2-for-3 with three RBI while Malkowski was 2-for-4 with two RBI. St. Norbert finished the game with seven hits.
