Green Knights Battle No. 2-Ranked Warhawks

WHITEWATER - St. Norbert College faced the No. 2-ranked team in NCAA Division III baseball and lost to UW-Whitewater 22-8 in a non-conference game at windswept Prucha Field at Miller Stadium.

St. Norbert (20-11) took a 2-1 lead in the second inning. Robbie Dombrowski drove in a run with a single, and another run came around to score when the Whitewater left fielder misplayed the ball.

Whitewater (24-4) responded with two runs in the third inning and six runs in the fourth inning to take a 9-2 lead. St. Norbert got a run in the fifth inning on a solo home run by Jack Maastricht. The Warhawks scored four runs in the fifth before St. Norbert scored a run in the sixth on a Jacob Raeder RBI double. Whitewater put the game out of reach with a nine-run sixth inning, but St. Norbert pushed across seven runs in the seventh inning. Michael Larsen had an RBI single, Sean Grant and Raeder run-scoring grounders in the frame.

Maastricht finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored, including a double and home run. The Green Knights finished with seven hits.
